Swiss textile designer and artist Christoph Hefti creates experimental, spontaneous pieces that explore the mystical and spiritual traditions of storytelling through fabrics. Inspired by folklore and traditional craft techniques, Hefti often travels to Nepal to design and develop each unique series of hand-knotted rugs.
Following his study of textile design in Zurich, and fashion at Central Saint Martins, London, Hefti spent 13 years as a creative assistant to Dries Van Noten at his Antwerp atelier, where he was responsible for creating prints iconic to the designer. Since leaving Antwerp, Hefti has collaborated with a variety of fashion houses internationally.
Hefti’s work has been shown in group exhibitions at Mudac, Lausanne; Aargauer Kunsthaus, and the Museum für Gestaltung in Zürich among others. His work is held in private collections in Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, the USA, and China.
